Safe Sitter - Babysitting
Programs for 11-13 year olds & 14-16 year olds
LAFAYETTE, LA—Woman’s Foundation, Inc. and Women’s &
Children’s Hospital are jointly sponsoring Safe
Sitter classes during the summer: June 16
& 17, June 19 & 20, June 23 & 24, June
26 & 27, July 17 &
18, July 21 & 22 and July 28
& 29 from 9:00am–4:00pm
in the Woman’s Foundation classroom at 4630 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, Building

Safe
sitter is a two-day course that
prepares 11-13 year old girls and boys to become safe and
effective
babysitters. Safe Sitter participants
will learn: infant & child CPR, what to do when a child
chokes, safety
for the sitter, what to do in an emergency, how to set up a babysitting
business, how to screen job
requests, how to prevent and manage problem behavior, how to prevent and
manage injuries and
how to entertain children of different ages.
All information is
medically accurate and is taught by trained Safe
Sitter instructors. During the
course,
students get hands-on practice in basic lifesaving techniques so they
are prepared to act in a
crisis.
The cost of
the two-day program is
$60 which includes: a student manual
filled with information and
resources for on the job, a Safe Sitter backpack, important numbers
Post-It
pads, a Band-Aid dispenser
and flashlight, as well as breakfast and lunch each day.
A one-day
course for 14-16 year old girls and boys is scheduled for
June 9 and July 11, 9:00am-4:00pm. The cost for the one-day
program is $45.
